EU AI Act Compliance Deadline
9 Aug 2026On 2 August 2026, the majority of the EU AI Act's compliance requirements came into force, as scheduled. What most coverage missed: the Digital Omnibus already pushed the deadline for high-risk AI system obligations out to 2 December 2027. This is not a blanket delay. It is a tiered one — and BFSI institutions using AI in credit, fraud, or advisory workflows sit squarely in the high-risk category.
A longer compliance runway is not a lighter compliance bar. Institutions treating 'the deadline moved' as 'the pressure is off' will be the ones still unprepared in 2027.
